Building Equity. Together.

The COVID-19 pandemic is reshaping lives in the United States and around the globe. Every one of us has faced challenges, and deep, longstanding disparities have been exposed. Some disparities may look like someone else’s problem. But they are, in fact, everyone’s problem, and the right solutions will impact us all. Addressing inequality can improve economic growth, make our communities more livable, lower the cost of healthcare, and create jobs.

For more than 60 years, AARP has fought to build a more equitable society—advocating for policies and programs that empower people to live longer, healthier, more productive lives.

Together with our partners, we are defining the critical issues, engaging the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, and identifying solutions to build a future in which each and every person can thrive.

AARP is convening two virtual series to engage leaders on how we create a future that embraces equity and innovation across the lifespan: Moving Forward: Reimagining How We Invest in Health, Wealth & Aging  and Equity By Design

Moving Forward: Reimagining How We Invest in Health, Wealth & Aging

On October 7 and 8, AARP is convening a conference that will serve to challenge and rethink current systems and structures in light of COVID-19, leverage innovation and reimagine a future that ensures people at every life stage have the opportunity to make the most of a longer and healthier life. The roster of premier speakers will focus on proposed solutions and ideas to achieve health and wealth equity.

Equity by Design

Our built environment, at every scale, can be a tool for disease prevention and the promotion of wellness. As we begin to build and renovate our homes and communities in a post-COVID-19 world, we must radically accelerate the application of an age-friendly framework that addresses disparities. This means housing and communities that are safe, affordable, and facilitate multigenerational interaction; meet sensory, emotional, physical, social, behavioral, and health needs across the lifespan; and include appropriate transportation options – enabling every resident to thrive. Join our dialogue series featuring built environment leaders from the U.S. and across the globe, who will share diverse perspectives on what it will take to Create Enabling & Equitable Housing and Multigenerational Communities.

Drive Informed Demand Individuals and families have a right to expect living environments that are safe and enabling across the lifespan.
