This high-level meeting held during the 59th session of the Commission for Social Development was a moderated conversation organized by AARP and DESA in collaboration with ITU and the United Nations Human Rights Special Procedures. The focus lies on a socially just transition towards a sustainable development and the role of key digital and ubiquitous technologies on social development and well-being of all, in times of navigating a COVID-19 pandemic response and recovery efforts.

This high-level meeting held during the 58th session of the UN Commission for Social Development is a moderated conversation on the preliminary findings of global discussions with private sector leaders and knowledge partners conducted by AARP, World Economic Forum, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on inclusive multigenerational workforce practices and the business case for an age diverse workforce. 


12th Annual AARP UN Briefing

AARP and the United Nations Programme on Ageing Unit (DESA) hosted the 12th Annual AARP-UN Briefing Luncheon on the theme of "Why it Matters: Social Protection for Older Women" on Monday, March 11, 2019. The luncheon was held during the 63rd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women. 


11th Annual AARP UN Briefing

On January 30, 2018, AARP, the United Nations Focal Point on Ageing (DESA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) hosted a luncheon briefing and an evening reception with a focus on poverty eradication. This year’s event was held during the 56th session of the UN Commission for Social Development whose theme is “Strategies for eradicating poverty to achieve sustainable development for all.”
